Lessons Learned documentary

The making of this documentary was an absolute craze. Laura came up with the idea of veterans when they come home from war, and the respect they get. It took me awhile to understand what it was really targeting, but I eventually understood.

We went out into the town of Franklin and filmed a memorial park, and ended up getting to interview someone there. He was from the vietnam war, and only gave about 2 word answers.
We then went to the Franklin American Legion. Now we went on St. Patricks day, so when we walked in people were dressed in green and were wearing some ridiculous stuff on themselves. It was in the middle of the day, and all these people were hanging out in a bar. So we tried talking to them and they talked back, but no one wanted to be interviewed. So, we went to another park and shot some video diary, about our day.

Next day, we went downtown to the war memorials and walked around and filmed footage of the monuments and the museums inside. I think this is when we decided to take another turn on the documentary.

Through this I learned just how peoples emotions from the war are totally different than what I had imagined. these men were scarred and emotionally damaged from fighting. they fought for our freedom, and we treated them like crap when they came back. My grandpa was in the army during the korean war and he said that when the soldiers came back from war they were totally ignored, and people wouldnt acknowledge what had happened, and the same with vietnam.

this was such a learning opportunity. And I am glad that I had the opportunity to be apart of this. I made me think of my opinions and thoughts on the war now.
